In observance of World Population Day, July 11, the GrowthBusters project has set up this website to provide unusually frank information about the state of world population. Environmental and human rights organizations often issue statements about World Population Day. In my opinion these statements are in most cases too vague. In an effort not to alarm or offend, politicians, diplomats and organizations water the message down with euphemisms as they tap-dance around the elephant in the room.
We at GrowthBusters think we are pretty compassionate, respectful and polite, but we adhere to a more progressive view of political correctness. This is adult swim. We think you can handle the truth, want the truth, and need to know the truth. So explore this website if you’re ready to stop beating around the bush:
The human enterprise has outgrown the planet.
That is a product of population and consumption.
In order to live sustainably and give future generations around the world a fair chance of living good lives, we must stabilize and then reduce population, and the more affluent in the world must reduce our levels of consumption.
We’ve posted and will continue to post a number of videos you’ll find informative, and in many cases entertaining. I also invite you to recommend videos for us to post, or to make your own, post it on YouTube, and send us a link by commenting below.

Please read these petitions advocating municipal environmental
contraception funding, which is increasingly politically realistic due
to The Big Sort in more and more towns, and helps women’s rights, quality of life, and school taxes as well as being at
least 5 times more cost-effective than any other environmental effort.

The prochoice and contraception movements are placing too high a priority on defensive actions in the red states when we should be going on the offensive, the side of “change”, in the blue states, and cities. The worst places
will get even worse no matter what we do, but the unrealized political potential, the low hanging fruit, is in making the best places even better. This opportunity is being caused by The Big Sort. Mayors are not answerable to rural voters, unlike governors and presidents.
