For some reason Ian Angus is stuck in the dark ages, when some who spoke out against population growth were less enlightened and some even had selfish agendas. I invite him to step into the 21st century, an era where we have intelligent, enlightened, compassionate advocates for sustainable population.
It’s a new world, Ian! We welcome your efforts to eliminate inequality and replace a system hooked on growth. Join us, don’t fight us. Stop spreading outdated, inaccurate information, and stop misleading the public about overpopulation. There is not a system we can adopt that will provide good lives for 10 billion people sustainably. Population stabilization and reduction is a necessary part of a sustainable future.
Read about Ian Angus population nonsense here.

I agree with the fact that the rich countries (the 1%) are to blame for the onset of the entamonrenvil crisis but I think you forget to recognize how it got this way. Without consumers and revolutionists the industrial revolution would not have led to the entamonrenvil crisis in our climate today. So in a sense, the 7 billion people’s consumption led to the increased production of carbon emissions. I think you make a great point in saying, implementing one-child programs in other countries will have little or no effect on our energy consumption, which is ultimately our problem. We need to make changes in our use of energies with high carbon footprints much before we address the overpopulation issue.

Thanks for your thoughts, Terrance. But why is there a chronology involved? Why address one item BEFORE addressing another? In a global emergency both items must be addressed now. Waiting to address overpopulation is not a great idea.
