Which is the primary cause of our civilization’s unsustainability? Which should we be working on? Which CAN we actually affect? These questions are raised too often. The answer should be obvious. We are in overshoot to such a large degree, we absolutely must end population growth sooner rather than later, and we must reduce levels of consumption in the developed world. There should be no debate. This segment from the film, GrowthBusters: Hooked on Growth, explores the subject.
Great comments in this segment from:
Dave Paxson, president of World Population Balance (one of the greatest communicators in the population field)
Paul Ehrlich, Stanford biologist and author of The Population Bomb, co-founder of Millennium Alliance for Humanity & the Biosphere
Robert Engelman, president of Worldwatch Institute and author of More: Population, Nature and What Women Want
Bill Ryerson, President of Population Media Center (one of the smartest people in the population field)

I couldn’t agree more with these pinots. The design of our cities, transportation , over-consumption, waste and the belief that everyone must have children are problematic.
