You have to see it to believe it. Most developed nations of the world are so obsessed with GDP growth they pursue population growth – overtly or covertly. The U.S. is no exception. Most often the case for high immigration to the U.S. is made in economic, rather than humanitarian, terms. Nations experiencing moderate population decline provide financial incentives to induce higher fertility rates. No thought is given to how this impacts a nation’s carbon footprint or ecological footprint. It is clearly unsustainable behavior. This segment from the film, GrowthBusters: Hooked on Growth, highlights just a few examples.
